Every girl deserves a positive role model. Story Power is passionate about placing great books about inspiring women in libraries across America. Run entirely by high school students, we are committed to addressing the lack of stories of powerful women available to today's young girls. Your generous contributions will place quality books in urban school libraries - where they can be used to inspire future women leaders. These books have been selected by our team of educators, students, and community leaders. The woman authors and subjects, often overlooked, present stories of extraordinary drive, commitment, and intellect.

We have all experienced the power of a great story to change the way we see ourselves and our lives. Young girls, particularly in middle school, are in special need of these stories at a time when they are still forming their identities. Award winning books like The House on Mango Street by Sandra Cisneros, an intimate portrait of a young girl growing up in the barrio of Chicago, or Lorraine Hansberry's landmark play A Raisin in the Sun can open up entirely new vistas for young girls.

"I believe that every girl is capable of remarkable things.

Sometimes, though, circumstances keep girls from achieving their full potential. I want to inspire these girls to break whatever barriers they face and conquer the unimaginable. We all have great strength inside us, but sometimes we need a bit of guidance to use it. That is where Story Power can help."
